Born in Mobile, Alabama, Mentor’s life is a dizzying dance with the world — shifting and redistributing and redeploying, creativity always preeminent. Travelling and living across the USA and Europe, she has worked with sculptors, fiber artists, builders, designers, and painters from around the world. But it always comes back to painting.
Focusing on her painting, Mentor relocated to the artist enclave of Paducah, Kentucky. Selling works out of her studio, then her own gallery, she established herself as one of Paducah’s most successful artists.
Her paintings show certitude born of experience. Brilliant colors meet and coil around the subtle in decisive, innate genius. Clean jewels of pigment pop with life. Her paintings are a controlled fervor. Yet the result is as serene and mesmerizing as the ocean tide.
